National Children’s Month theme OSAEC-CSAEM

👶☺This year’s National Children’s Month theme, OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!, highlights a growing and urgent issue in our digital world the rising cases of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. The message is powerful and timely. As young people spend more time online for learning, entertainment, and communication, they also become more vulnerable to hidden dangers on the internet. The theme reminds us that protecting children is not just a responsibility of families but of schools, communities, and the government working together.

Over the years, the Philippine government has strengthened its efforts to defend children’s rights and dignity. Laws such as the Anti-OSAEC Act, Anti-Child Pornography Act, and the expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act show the seriousness of the government in fighting exploitation. Agencies like the DSWD, PNP Women and Children Protection Center, and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking continue to investigate cases, rescue victims, and raise awareness. These actions reflect the government's commitment to creating safer online spaces and ensuring that exploitation whether online or offline has real consequences for offenders.

However, while these policies are important, protecting children fully requires continuous improvement. Internet safety education must be strengthened in schools, parents need more guidance on monitoring online activities, and communities must stay vigilant. Technology evolves quickly, and so do the methods used by abusers. That is why this year’s celebration serves as a reminder that the fight is ongoing. Every child deserves a life free from fear, exploitation, and harm and it is the shared duty of all of us to support the government’s efforts in making that vision a reality.
