The National Bayani Of The Philippines

 Jose Rizal  is widely recognized as the face of the Philippines because his ideas, writings, and sacrifices awakened the Filipino spirit during the Spanish colonial period. Rather than leading an armed revolution, Rizal chose the power of education, reason, and peaceful reform to fight injustice. His life showed that loving one’s country means standing for truth, dignity, and national identity.

Rizal’s greatest contribution to Philippine society was his use of literature as a weapon against oppression. Through his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, he exposed the abuses of Spanish friars and officials, revealing the suffering of Filipinos under colonial rule. These works opened the eyes of many Filipinos, inspiring them to question injustice and seek social reforms.

Beyond his writings, Rizal embodied the importance of education and moral courage. He believed that an enlightened society could achieve freedom without violence. As a doctor, scholar, and reformist, he promoted unity, self-respect, and nationalism. His execution in 1896 further strengthened the revolutionary spirit of Filipinos, proving that ideas rooted in love for country can never be silenced.

Today, Rizal’s legacy continues to guide Philippine society. His belief in peaceful change, intellectual freedom, and patriotism remains relevant in addressing modern social issues. Jose Rizal became the face of the Philippines not only because of his martyrdom, but because his vision shaped the nation’s identity and inspired generations to fight for justice through wisdom and integrity.

First Quarter Reflection

My reflection about the first quarter of our last school year as Junior Highschool students This first quarter of Grade 10 was honestly a fun memory, and I hope it will continue until the last quarter. I got to experience so many different things from creative projects to competitions and it made this school year a lot more exciting and not just about academics. One of the things I struggled with was finishing all my notes. I think it was because there were just so many schoolworks going on and sometimes I focused more on group work or other tasks. Even though I didn’t complete all of them I still managed to understand the lessons and keep up with everything important and I know it’s something that I want to improve next quarter.
